February – Teacher’s Well-being Month, 6th Edition

February – Teacher’s Well-being Month, 6th Edition

Now in its sixth edition, “February – Teacher’s Well-being Month” continues to be a flagship national program dedicated to promoting emotional, mental, and physical health among teachers and educational communities in Romania. Organized by InIm Institute, in collaboration with School of Health and Finnish Teacher Training Center, this year’s event takes place under the slogan “Learning Together, Growing Together”, highlighting the importance of connection and collaboration in the learning and development process.

The program features interactive activities, educational resources, and training sessions, all aimed at supporting teachers and students in creating a school environment where well-being is a priority. From practical workshops and inspirational discussions to local initiatives involving the entire community, every aspect of the program reflects our commitment to bringing well-being into every classroom.

The Motivation Behind Well-being Initiatives in Schools

In 2025, we continue to emphasize well-being and mental health in school communities. Recent studies and research show that there is still a strong need for initiatives that support mental health in educational environments. According to the Teacher Wellbeing Index 2024, 77% of education staff reported feeling stressed, while 45% indicated (or had been told by someone else) that the symptoms they had experienced in the past year (from a provided list) could suggest anxiety.

Additionally, data from the National Foundation for Educational Research highlights a 44% increase in the number of teachers in England intending to leave the profession between 2021-2022 and 2022-2023.

Although there are cultural, economic, political etc. differences between the populations of the United Kingdom and Romania that may influence behavioral analysis percentages, the findings of the “Teacher Flourishing” conducted in 2021 revealed similar issues regarding mental health in Romanian educational settings. One significant concern that emerged was that, while most participants were satisfied with their work, 36% felt lonely. Furthermore, while 68.7% of teachers reported positive emotions such as joy or happiness, only two-thirds had experienced these feelings within the past two weeks. Lastly, 80% reported that their work had no positive impact on their mental health or overall well-being.

On the other hand, students in Romania face their own challenges impacting their mental health and general well-being. According to our latest research as part of the international study “Mapping Youth Mental Health Landscapes: Local Insights from 13 Countries”, the most prevalent mental health issues among young people (aged 10–22) in Romania are: depression symptoms, anxiety symptoms, conduct disorders, and substance abuse. The most common factors contributing to these problems include: bullying/cyberbullying or harassment, exposure to violence in mass media and social media, and, last but not least, the stigma surrounding mental health issues.

What are our Objectives?

Analyzing the realities of the educational environment, we aim to create initiatives that support school communities. In other words, through the program February – Teacher’s Well-being Month, we intend to:

  • Increase awareness of the importance of mental health among teachers and students in Romania.
  • Inform the general public about the resources and tools available to promote well-being in schools.
  • Promote collaboration between teachers, students, parents, and the community to build a support network for mental health.
  • Inspire local initiatives and school projects that foster well-being.

2025 Program

As in previous editions, throughout the month, we will focus each week on different concepts that provide accessible approaches to supporting the communities we are part of. Thus, during the four weeks of February, we will explore: emotional resilience, emotional safety, positive psychology, and physical health.

  • Week 1: Learning together about emotional resilience (February 3–9)
  • Week 2: Learning together about emotional safety (February 10–16)
  • Week 3: Exploring the impact of nutrition on well-being (February 17–23)
  • Week 4: Learning together about positive psychology (February 24 – March 2)

What activities are planned for this year?

  • Engaging workshops: Experts in well-being, education, and nutrition will guide you through key aspects of physical and emotional health.
  • Well-being training sessions: InIm Institute trainers are excited to launch new training sessions during Teacher’s Well-being Month.
  • Informative articles: Inspirational reads and useful information to deepen your understanding of well-being in the school community.
  • Practical tips: Tools and strategies you can implement in your daily life to support your well-being.
  • Inspirational reflections: A time to dedicate to introspection on your journey toward well-being.

Join the movement and let’s place emotional health at the center of education! Together, we can make February the month we learn to feel good, support one another, and build inspiring educational communities.
